Symdex-D is

a combination medication used for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with the common cold, flu, allergic rhinitis, and sinusitis. It is available in various forms, including tablets, syrup, and oral drops.

Active Ingredients

Symdex-D combines three active ingredients, each with a specific function:

  • Paracetamol (Acetaminophen): An analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer) that helps alleviate headaches, body pains, and fever.

  • Phenylpropanolamine Hydrochloride: A decongestant that narrows blood vessels in the nasal passages to relieve nasal and ear congestion, stuffy nose, and post-nasal drip.

  • Chlorphenamine Maleate (CPM): An antihistamine that reduces allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, itchy eyes/nose/throat, runny nose, and sneezing.

Indications for Use

Symdex-D provides multi-symptom relief for:

  • Nasal and sinus congestion

  • Runny nose and sneezing

  • Itchy and watery eyes

  • Headache and body aches

  • Fever

Important Considerations

  • Dosage: Dosage varies by product form (tablet, forte tablet, syrup, drops) and age (adults, children, infants). It should be taken as directed by a physician or according to the package instructions.

  • Side Effects: Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, and dry mouth.

  • Precautions: Use with caution in patients with high blood pressure, heart disease, glaucoma, or those taking antidepressants. Phenylpropanolamine has been withdrawn from the market in some countries (like the US) due to an increased risk of hemorrhagic stroke in some users, so local availability and regulations should be checked.

  • Consult a Doctor: Always consult a healthcare professional before use, especially if symptoms persist or worsen, or if you have pre-existing medical conditions.
